A little push in the right direction

I know many of you may be wondering what I am doing with my days since I am not working (and that is a new thing for me.) Well, I am really enjoying taking care of Audrey. She is growing so much and really getting into a good daily schedule. I love playing with her. She is so vocal now and smiles at us all the time with her little puffy cheeks. Right now she is sitting over on the couch playing with her toy and I am listening to her talk to it (and try to eat it.)
I am also enjoying taking care of our house. Troy comes home for lunch most days and I get to have a little time with him during the day.
We've also been enjoying some walks in the morning before it gets too hot.

I have been working through a Bible study with my friend Kelli. We are studying the Sermon on the Mount (which is a continuation of the study we did last semester in our women's group.) It's been good to dig into that daily and to discuss it with Kelli.

Kelli and I have been praying for eachother (now getting to the real reason for this post)and my prayer request seems to continually be my adjustment here and that I will see what God has for me here. Specifically I have been praying for ways to connect with ladies here in our apartments. I told you in an earlier blog that there are numerous Indian families living here. They work at Dell and IBM which is right around the corner. Our next door neighbors are a family from India with a little one year old girl and I have been praying recently for an opportunity to connect with this lady. I wanted to get up the guts to just go knock on her door and invite her to tea at my place.

So yesterday evening we were coming in from a drive (we spent our anniversary getting ice cream at DQ and driving around looking at houses.) I got out of the car and was bringing Audrey in with Troy and Nettie a bit behind me. My neighbor saw me out her window and waved at me and then came around to the door. Then she came out and said hi, asked how Audrey is doing, and motioned for me to come in. I took off my shoes and left them outside and then went in to visit. She was so sweet and hospitable. She immediately got me some juice. I asked her what she was cooking and she showed me this new vegetable I had not seen before. Apparantly her husband works for IBM and is out of town for most of the week and she is there alone with their baby. She said it is hard on her. We chatted a bit and I told her I was so glad that she invited me in because I had wanted to invite her to tea at my house.
I asked her if she would like that and she nodded her head yes. So next week I am going to knock on her door and we will make plans for tea. Then I decided I needed to get home because Troy might be worrying that I vanished. But before I left she went in her room and brought out a bottle of lotion as a gift for me coming to her home for the first time.

How exciting is that???
Isn't it neat how God sometimes gives us a little push in the right direction?

I will keep you posted on how tea goes. I would love it if you could pray for this relationship. (and a lady named Sue who is also Indian that I met at the pool.)

We are off today for Garner State Park to celebrate our anniversary and the 4th!

Have a great 4th!
