Sling Thoughts?

So I think I would like a good sling for new baby girl. We do have a Bjourn that I'm sure we'll use. But I'd like something a little more cuddly. I had a regular sling with Audrey and neither of us liked it.
Any recommendations?
Bec, do you really like the Moby?

I (We) L-O-V-E-D the Moby! It was comfortable and so cozy! Travis even enjoyed using it too. My sister borrowed ours and like it too. There are so many colors, you can get one that is Troy approved! I know you can purchase them at stores now, but I ordered mine off the website www.mobywrap.com . It shows the different ways you can use it as well. We used it for a long time with Evan and I can't wait to be able to use it again! I've also heard great things about Ergo's www.ergobabycarriers.com . But I think the Moby is better for younger babies. We used ours as soon as Evan came home.

The Moby is wonderful. I have also heard great things about the Ergo and Babyhawk. The Moby is the best for little bitties.

We used a fabric sling until Schäfer was about one. We were super impressed with the quality and will use it again for a newborn. We bought it here:

By the time he was one, he was wiggling so much that the fabric would move and become uncomfortable. That's when we got an Ergo. I LOVE IT. I use it everyday (getting on and off buses, carrying groceries + baby up 5 flights of stairs, etc.) The Ergo can carry up to 40 pounds so we're still putting Schäfer inside. I think he will probably be able to ride in it until he's 3.5 - maybe 4!
Hubs wears the Ergo too. I like that it looks masculine enough for him to wear it - the sling looked a bit feminine with all that flowing fabric!

Eden and I love our ring sling but I want to try a Moby because it is more versatile and it distributes the weight over both shoulders. Eden still likes to be "slung" and she's 22 lbs...

I used a Moby with Chase. I loved it, but for medical reasons (feeding tube, oxygen, etc.) we were not able to use it much. They are great for little ones. One of my good friends is a babywearing "expert". Her website has lots of great info about slings and wraps...even details about making your own. www.drmariablois.com

Hey Amy! I made a Moby (tutorial on my blog) for dirt cheap and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I can still carry Catherine around with my pregnant belly and it is SO great.

We had a sling and used that for the first 3 months of her life but the Moby is SO much better.

I too have heard wonderful things about the Ergo (when we were in Portland and using the Moby people told us we should move on to the Ergo!) but can't say enough about the Moby.

Hi there -- I was blog surfing and came across your blog. I used my Moby wrap A LOT the first 5 months of my son's life. I really loved it and highly recommend it for the early months. My son did not want to be put down, and it saved my sanity around the house. I also used it when we took a 2 day trip to Chicago when my son was 3 months old. I imagine it would be indispensible if you're also chasing a toddler. The only downside is learning to wrap it, but once you learn, you can do it in 2-3 minutes, tops. I wasn't able to nurse my son while he was in the Moby, but I was able to leave it wrapped around me while I nursed him -- I just pulled aside the fabric.

I also had a Balboa Baby sling (recommended by Dr. Sears), and it was easier to put on & take off, but I didn't like the uneven weight distribution. I'll probably try to sell that and buy a Maya sling for any future babies.

My son is on the smaller side, so I could continue using the Moby for a while, based on the weight limit, but he's SO wiggly and doesn't like to face in. I've heard it's not advisable to use the back carry with a stretchy wrap because the baby can fall out. So now I feel like it's outlived its usefulness. I'm trying to decide what carrier to buy next. I'm leaning toward the Ergo but it's very expensive to not be able to "try before I buy" (there are no stores around here that carry it). But I have heard that the Ergo is good for tiny babies too, because it has an insert to "cuddle" a newborn.
