My mommy's hat

Mommy, Daddy and I (oh and Nettie of course) have been taking lots of walks lately. It's getting warm here in Boston and I needed a hat to wear out in the sun. The other day I wore this hat that my mommy wore when she was a baby like me. Aren't I cute? I'm hoping that My Gran or Aunt Sarah can find me a cute sun bonnet to wear when I am playing outside.

This has been a busy weekend for me! I got to go to a bridal shower with all the girls and then I went to an Arts Festival at church and listened to some music (mostly I slept through the music) and today I went to a baby shower for my soon to be friend Ezekial. I wore my pretty red outfit that Uncle George and Aunt Heidi gave me. I looked pretty, but I slept through most of this as well. You can tell I'm pretty tired in my pictures. I need a nap.

Summer reading

So, I love to read fiction, especially in the summer. It's a great alternative to watching t.v., great for the beach, great for camping, nice for resting when you have a napping baby. I'm always on the lookout for great fiction. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.
And I have a suggestion for you if you are looking for some good summer reading.
When I was in college and doing my student teaching I was working in a middle school reading class. As my students were reading, I read a youth fiction book that I LOVED. I have been looking for more books by the same author ever since, with no luck. However, yesterday Troy and I went to Border Book Store to hang out (which Audrey didn't appreciate) and I found 2 "companion books" to the one I read previously. I started the 2nd book last night and it definitely lives up to my expectations from this author. It's really interesting.
So, here you go:

1. The Giver by Lois Lowry
2. Gathering Blue
3. Messenger

You can buy them as a set on amazon. The library will definitely have
The Giver (it's a Newbury Award Winner) and it will probably have the other 2.
They are worth buying and passing around to friends.
They will be found in the youth fiction area.

You should definitely try them out and let me know what you think!

She's changing so much already!

Wow! They told us that she would change so quickly and we didn't realize how true that was. Audrey is growing so much. We went to the Dr. yesterday for a checkup and she went from 7.7 lbs 2 weeks ago (after losing some after she was born) to 8.4 now! Her face is filling out so much. The Dr. said that she is kicking and squirming so much that she wouldn't be surprised if she rolled soon. (And upon hearing that Troy thought "that's my girl!")

She is responding to us alot more too. She stares at us and follows us with her eyes. If you kiss her feet she curls her toes around your lips. How cute is that? And I think she may be starting to make some cooing sounds.
I do think it's possible that we may have a Daddy's girl on our hands. Man, she loves her Daddy and she is going to have him wrapped around her finger. They are quite the pair. We all knew it would be great for Troy to have a little girl.

How are we sleeping? Well actually, last night she slept 5 hours, ate and then slept 4 more! We were so excited! We really feel like we are getting settled. She is adjusting to a schedule more every day. My sister says that all her babies slept through the night by 6-8 weeks. We are crossing our fingers that that will run in the family!

And what about Nettie? Alot of you have asked how she is adjusting to Audrey. Well, right when we brought Audrey home Nettie didn't quite know what to do. She was pretty jealous I think. She hid under chairs alot and also tried to sit right on top of me. She wouldn't get very close to Audrey. But now Nettie is getting used to things. She is still right on top of us most of the time. She sits as close as she can while Audrey is eating. She likes to lick Adurey on the head (sorry if that grosses you out...it's inevitable around here.) And she has become way more protective (if that was possible.) Watch out men who come in here - Nettie will get you! The only thing is - at night when Nettie's sleep is disturbed she end up under the bed. I don't think she likes that part so much. (who would, right?)
And she is getting used to going on walks with the stroller. I think she is proud of her baby when she walks next to her. :) I think Audrey likes Nettie too. (She is actually yawning in that picture where she is laying on Nettie...not screaming.) It's funny how Nettie's barking doesn't even phase Audrey since she heard it for 9 months in the womb. Audrey likes to stare at Nettie. We think they will be big buds.

Anyway, that's an update on us.

Can't wait for all of you to meet Audrey. Her Aunt Sarah and cousin Caroline come in a few weeks. Won't that be fun!!!
